Gippsland Regional Organics

Gippsland Regional Organics is an EPA-licensed waste treatment and composting facility owned by Gippsland Water. It is one of the largest organics recycling facilities in the State and is poised to undergo an expansion.

Previously known as the Soil and Organic Recycling Facility (SORF), the facility is located on 350 hectares within our 8500+ hectare Dutson Downs property, not far east from Sale.

At Gippsland Regional Organics, we use multiple methods to turn waste into compost – reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, and contribute to the health of our environment. Each year we accept up to 250,000 tonnes of waste (including industrial and reportable priority waste) and manufacture approximately 60,000 tonnes of compost certified to Australian standards.
